Storing Records In CMK
There are times when you may not want a record to occupy space in Church Membership Keeper's main file but you don't want to delete or lose the data so CMK includes a file in which to store the data. The data is stored in the file "Stored.fp3" (pretty clever huh?). The stored file contains the data only from Church Membership Keeper's main file. The data in the related files is not stored in the Stored.fp3 file. Here is how to store and restore data to and from Church Membership Keeper's main file.
Moving Records From Church Membership Keeper
|
The "stored" button is located on the List View layout. Clicking this button triggers a script that allows you to store the single record next to the button. When you click this button the following dialog pops up unless you are holding down the shift key when you click the button. |

As the dialog indicates you can either choose to store the current record by clicking "OK" or cancel the storage by clicking "Cancel" (as if that wasn't obvious) in which case the record will not be stored. If you are sure you want to store the current record hold down the Shift key when clicking the store button and you will not get this dialog. To avoid the loss of data you cannot cancel or abort the storage once you click "OK".
Here's what happens:
The Stored.fp3 File
In the Stored.fp3 file you will see the following three buttons.
![]()
Import Data - Imports data from CMK's main file. It will import all of the records in the current found set in CMK's main file and then delete the files from the main file. If you are uncertain about the current found set in CMK then you should cancel the import.
Restore - This button restores the records in the Stored.fp3 file's current found set and then deletes them from the file.
CMK - Clicking this button returns to Church Membership Keeper's main file. None of the records in the Stored.fp3 file will be affected.
Restoring Records To CMK's Main File
|
The Stored.fp3 file also contains a "store" button. Clicking this button triggers a script that allows you to restore the single record next to the button. When you click this button the following dialog pops up unless you are holding down the shift key when you click the button. |

You will be given the option to restore the record or cancel the restoration. Cancel is the default button. If you contine with the restoration the file will be imported by CMK and deleted from the Stored.fp3 file. Before importing the record CMK checks to make sure that the record does not already exist in the main file. Once the file has been restored the following dialog appears.

If you want to restore additional files select "Yes." If you do not want to restore additional files click on "No" and CMK will be opened.
